Senior Manager, Error Reporting Programs, Institute for Safe Medication Practices
Michael Gaunt is senior manager of error reporting programs at the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP), which he joined in 2004. In this role, Dr Gaunt oversees the operation of ISMP’s three reporting programs and works collaboratively with United States Food and Drug Administration to advocate for nomenclature, packaging, and labeling improvements. He participates in on-site risk assessments in community and specialty pharmacies to assess risks and identify opportunities to improve safety and reliability. Dr Gaunt also serves as the editor of the monthly ISMP Medication Safety Alert! Community/Ambulatory Care newsletter. He received a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Notre Dame and a doctor of pharmacy degree with a certificate in drug safety from Temple University School of Pharmacy.
